We are excited about our fall program offering across all age levels! Please review all details below before registering.

Overview of WMSC Fall Soccer Programs Offered

• Recreation Program (Pre-K through 5th grade) - offers basic training and small sided games for kids who enjoy the game, learning fundamentals, and playing in small sided games. More details are available on our website below and registration is open now through August 31st.

• Pre-Travel Program (2017 and 2018 birth years only) - designed to simulate the competitive play environment of travel in both individual drills and small sided play. This includes better understanding concepts of positions on the field, offensive play and defensive play. The program also introduces competitive play as the team trains together to participate in mini-tournaments and compete against other towns / teams. • *New* Middle School Competitive, League Play (6th, 7th, & 8th Grades) - offers a formal competitive team and league format where players train together and play against other towns each weekend. Coaches are from our new recreation vendor, KickzSoccer, who run practices twice a week and coach weekend games each Sunday. Tell your friends as we need appropriate roster sizes of 15 players minimum in each age group!

Overview of the WMSC Fall Rec Season

Pre-K through 5th Grade Divisions

The fall recreational soccer program is for boys and girls Pre-K through 5th Grade. The program runs for 7 weeks, starting Monday September 9, 2023 and ending on Saturday, November 2, 2023. There are no practices or games Columbus day weekend from October 12th to October 18th.

Players in the recreation soccer program will be introduced to the technical, tactical and psychological components of the game that will increase their ability to make positive decisions through fun and engaging activities.

The program is designed for players to practice and play at a recreation level of play:

• Pre-K players will participate in one week-day session and one Saturday morning session
  
• Kindergarten - 5th Grade players participate in one practice session and one game session 

When registering, please register for the grade level your player will be in for the fall 2023 school year.

Schedule (tentative, pending registration numbers)

The schedule is determined based on a variety of factors including field availability, registration numbers and coordination with the broader WMSC program. While we do our very best to plan for and maintain the proposed schedule below, there is potential that the schedule may adjust closer to the start of the season. We appreciate your understanding!

Please find the relevant age groups to you and take note of the:

• field location
• day(s) of the week
• practice / game times. 

Team Formation

Grades Pre-K through 1st  and 2nd grade through 5th will be formed and named after teams in the UEFA 2024 European Cup.  

For added fun at home, introduce your players to these leagues and share with them what the are, how they came to be and logo of their rec team name!

The recreation level program players are expected to participate in a majority of the games and practices. Team rosters are right-sized to maximize playing time; as a result, non-attendance will have an impact on the whole team.

Uniforms

Pre-K through 5th grade players are expected to wear a WMSC Rec uniform at their game sessions. Players are welcome to re-use their jerseys from last year as the will remain the same colors and design. Please always bring both red and blue jersey's. Blue will be used for "Home" team and red for "Away" team.

We also welcome players to upcycle and use a second hand uniform from siblings, friends, or through the West Morris Sports Equipment Exchange Page on Facebook. If you have jerseys to donate please consider posting them on the group page.

Referees

We are continuing the Youth Referee program this year! We welcome local High School students in grades 9 or higher to participate.  Interested candidates must be familiar with the game.  There will be a mandatory training session the last week of August. We aim to have each referee work at least one game per weekend. Schedules are set each week and we offer flexibility if the refs have a commitment and cannot participate every weekend. 

This is great opportunity for the teens in our community to have leadership responsibilities and be involved with the WMSC program. Most of our refs started their soccer career in the rec program!

Whistles and yellow shirts will be provided.

Fees

Pre-K

• $ 100 registration 

Kindergarten - 5th Grade
The Rec fee is $260

• Family discount (All divisions) for those with multiple kids in the rec program (will automatically apply at checkout)
• Late fee charges are $25 per player registered after August 29th 

Refunds:  WMSC will not provide refunds for any players who drop out of the program after the start of the season.

Middle School Competitive Team, League Play -  6th / 7th / 8th Grades only

In a combined offering with Long Valley Recreation soccer, we are forming squads for both 6 / 7 / 8 grade boys and 6 / 7 / 8 grade girls to compete in a 10 week league with towns of Roxbury, Randolph, Mount Olive and Long Valley. This is a great way for our players to commit to a formal team and league format and compete against other towns each weekend.

Teams will be formed with a large enough roster to ensure enough players are present at each game AND there are subs available to rest players. Teams are coached by repeat parent volunteers who have a passion for the game of soccer and help organize and run this league each year.

Parent volunteers are needed to support the WMSC Club! We are welcoming volunteers for the rec program for any of the following roles:

• Rec Field Lead (All locations) - Partner with our CSA Lead Trainer at one of our fields to help direct parents / kids at the start of sessions and answer questions.

• Rec Communication Lead - Co-develop and distribute communications for the recreation soccer program across all age groups. Includes program updates, weather disruptions and other parent communications.

• Rec Referee Coordinator - Set up the referee training with our head referee, organize the weekly referee schedule and handle payments to our high school referees.
