Although the pandemic has forced us to take a break from the game we love, West Morris Soccer Club has continued to work towards improving our club to better serve our soccer community.  With that in mind, we are very excited to announce that West Morris Soccer Club and Long Valley United will be merging for the Fall 2020 season!

The merger brings together two like-minded, not-for-profit clubs and expands the official WMSC geography to include Long Valley, in addition to Chester and Mendham. We believe the merger will strengthen our club in three important ways:

• Long term viability and Competitiveness. Expanding our official geography to include Long Valley widens our player pool, grows our training facilities, and increases our available resources. This new strength will enable our community soccer club to compete with the more expensive, for-profit clubs.
• Player Development. A combined club size of over 500 players will provide healthy numbers in most age groups and allow more players to compete at the correct league level (USYS NL/ECNL/EDP/MCYSA/Rec). This will foster a challenging soccer environment and help both retain current players and attract new players to WMSC.
• Changing Demographics. Historically, it has been a challenge to provide appropriate soccer programs for all age groups. Combining two strong clubs helps to mitigate the effect of our changing population and ensures we remain the model for a non-profit, cost-friendly, community-based soccer club.  We are proud to offer an excellent rec program, a perennially successful travel program, and a premier program with nationally-ranked teams at the highest levels of elite soccer.

There is still so much that we need to learn about what soccer will look like in the coming months, and we will continue to monitor the New Jersey soccer landscape with the hopes that we can provide our members with the best possible soccer experience, as soon and as safely as possible.

Despite all the difficulties we are currently experiencing, the future at WMSC is extraordinarily bright, and I look forward to seeing you all on the fields soon.
